Free 3DXML viewer for Android and Windows
PartLens opens .3dxml files exported by CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE for free on Android and Windows, offline, with no Dassault software. Every part is placed where the export puts it and named as in the product tree. Measurements are approximate (≈).
3DXML is the lightweight file CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE users send when the receiver has no CATIA: one file holding the product tree, the placement of every part and a display shape for each. PartLens 2.31.2 reads it directly.
What PartLens does with a 3DXML file
- The product tree, with every instance named as in the export, including parts with no shape.
- Every part placed where the export puts it; repeated parts drawn once.
- Large exports on phones — a model with more triangles than the phone can hold is simplified to fit, every part still shown, with a notice saying how approximate measurements are.
- Unzipped 3DXML on a PC opens from the shape files beside it.
- Sections and approximate measurement (≈).
Open a 3DXML file
- Get PartLens free from Google Play or as a Windows download.
- On Android: Tap the file in WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive or your file manager and choose PartLens under Open with, or open PartLens and tap Open.
- On Windows: Install the free Windows app, then drag the file onto the window or use Open CAD….
Nothing is uploaded: the file is read on your device, with no account.
Honest limits
3DXML carries display shapes (triangles), not CATIA's exact geometry, so measurements are approximate (≈). For exact numbers, ask for a STEP export. A few shapes in some exports use a packing PartLens reads only in part, and it says so. On Windows, open 3DXML with Open CAD… or drag and drop; it is not registered for double-click.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a 3DXML file without CATIA?
Yes. PartLens reads the product tree and display shapes inside the 3DXML, so no Dassault software is needed, on Android or Windows.
Is the 3DXML viewer free?
Yes. PartLens is free on Android and Windows, with no ads, account or subscription, from version 2.31.2.
Are measurements on a 3DXML exact?
No, approximate. A 3DXML stores triangle display shapes, so PartLens marks its measurements approximate (≈). Ask for STEP when you need exact numbers.
Does PartLens upload 3DXML files?
No. Files are read on your phone or PC and never uploaded.
